“I respect freedom of speech, but not lack of information speech.”

Amongst all the things to do, and I’m stuck in the office on Saturdays. Like they told me when they offered the job, that I would work Saturdays, well, here I am.

Anyway, for the wedding, just a few more things to do, by the way, if anyone has any songs they wouldn’t mind sharing, please do so. I’m in charge of the music and I have to put a playlist together. 2 Months, RSVP are now starting to come in.

Going to try relax later and play some, and then maybe do some more work on Chapter III. I’m actually feeling like I can be productive in that front. Sadly that is not the case in other places.

I just re-wrote chapter 2 of Silver, a bit happier with it, since now it has more then one purpose. It fills in not only the stage but some aspects of a character. Also working on chapter 3 now, going to actually get the story really started here, not sure, since I feel I’m dealing with a real thin line that I don’t want to break, but get passed.

Also working on capturing a VHS to digital for friend. First time I do something like that in years.

Wedding, 2 months and a few days to go. Jaro will be sending the invitations today. Getting quite nervous now. Wondering what we need to thing about, like sitting arrangement or the mechanics of the thing.

Had a meeting for the production stuff last week. It didn’t go as expected, the drafts I wanted were not done, but the meeting went rather well, I think even better then the previous one. The feeling that we can have fun with it is rekindle.

So this week I start the new Tuesday to Saturday. Kind of curios what the pros of it could be, the cons are obvious…

It was weird to be home alone all day yesterday… Spent most of my time doing random things for my own projects, but I’m not sure if I can keep it up. Luckily, it was good for a few things:

  1. I got to re-write chapter 2 of Silver, still don’t like it but it is now up. I think I will polish it but it also allows me to proceed with a better idea to chapter 3.
  2. Managed to watch a movie to get some ideas/inspiration for a short we want to work on.
  3. Clean some of the house.
  4. Oragnize in general.
  5. Start tossing around my head new concepts for more masks.

Well, back to work, a few issues that came up on Friday. Oh yeah, Friday, first production meeting, had a couple of surprises, but I think we handle them well and came up with a few things that hopefully will get the creative flood gates open.

The first push to start doing what some friends and I wanted. Hopefully this time we can get past the talk and into the action. To produce short features, and in time longer ones. We are going Indie.

Been joking about making executive decisions, hopefully won’t need to do for long thou. Now if I could get more of the guys to make some time in their not-working schedule, that would help. I’ve noticed that there is a lot of time I waste watching TV, time for us to produce better stuff. Someone said to me the other day ” write/make/produce better movie series” which made me think to my college years when someone else said something to the effect that TV needs to reconsider their purpose into some extend to teach. Teach better values, principals, ethics, etc, and yet make it entertaining.

Sounds hard, but I think that it is a good challenge.

For some reason the last 2 days, the render procs have been playing the whack-a-mole again. When I get 13 up another 13 go down. I was so excited, now I can’t keep up again. What is wrong??

Today at work, I/we have reach a milestone. I’m in charge of the render-farm, that is a bunch of machines that all they do is process/crunch numbers. When I came the company, we had on average about 6% of the whole thing down, the number they wanted it to be was either 3% or 3.5%. Problem is that numbers vary on points of view, there is nodes/machines vs. Procs/CPUs.

For the Procs there are 5444, for nodes there are 2623. The discrepancy is based on each node having from 1 to 4 procs (Dual CPUs, Dual CPUs with dual core, etc.) We keep track not only of the hosts vs. CPUs, but also vs. the ones that are out for repairs and the ones that are about to be retire.

The average of procs down was about 6% when I came in, managed to shift it to 4-5% by jerry-rigging and fixing slowly, but now that it has been a slow time for us, I jump on it, got a vendor/support guy to help and have been able to bring it to 3-4%. Hopefully at this pace, it will be closer to 3% in the next few days, once I get the next shipment of fixed nodes.

About time I felt a bit accomplished.

Working on brining back the former content. Meanwhile using the opportunity to fix/add/remove stuff.
